Description
Gum Dammar is one of the few tree resins still readily approved for use in picture varnish and retouch varnish and as an ingredient in painting mediums, emulsions, and encaustic colors. It is made up of alpha- and beta-resene fractions of Damarolic acid with terpenic essential oils. Gum Dammar is readily soluble in white spirit, turpentine, and other hydro-carbons of the aromatic variety. This resin gives very pale films with high gloss, impermeability, and chemical resistance, largely due to its very low acid value. It offers excellent color stability.
