MX Grade abrasive colors range from light gray to black. These sheets are meant for hard metals such as bronze and other hard surfaces. Even bookbinders have found uses for files in these grades when infilling. This grade will generally last 10 times longer than standard abrasives. Micromesh products feature a unique cushioned abrasive used to produce high-quality finishes. A cloth-backed material, Micromesh has a resilient layer of latex upon which abrasive crystals are specially bonded. Micromesh works on the basis that when pressure is applied, the silicon carbide crystals recede and rotate slightly to present their cutting edges evenly across the surface, shaving, rather than gouging it. The abrasive crystals all cut together with a fine planing action. The bond in the MX is less flexible than in the regular (MM) grade so you can achieve a high gloss on metals. It may be used wet or dry. Select from the following: 80MX, 100MX, 120MX, 150MX, 180MX, 240MX, 320MX, 360MX, 400MX, 600MX, 800MX, 1200MX. Unlike conventional abrasives, Micromesh cloths can be washed in soap and water and used again and again. They are available in individual 6 x 6 in. sheets.
