Description
Methyl cellulose is a powder which is mixed with distilled or de-ionized water to form a paste. It is not lumpy, and has a neutral pH. Methyl cellulose is non-toxic and odorless, and is not subject to deterioration from microbes or enzymes. Additionally, it is fully reversible with water. It is commonly used as an adhesive for paper and in bookbinding as well as for sizing fabric or paper and to loosen adhesive on old bindings being repaired.Methyl Cellulose dries fairly quickly, so a bit of PVA may be added to the solution in instances where a slower drying time is required. Once set, Methyl Cellulose is unaffected by temperature extremes.
